Change is the essence of progress, and this past week marked a significant moment for the Vernon Okanagan Inspired Community Events Society (VOICE). Our Annual General Meeting (AGM) was not just a routine event; it was a pivotal moment where our community came together to shape the future of our organization. With a spirit of enthusiasm and collaboration, we embarked on a journey of transformation, redefining our identity, purpose, and leadership for the year ahead.

New Name, New Beginnings

The first order of business was perhaps the most anticipated: the unveiling of our new name. After thoughtful deliberation and spirited discussions, we proudly announced our rebranding as the Vernon Okanagan Inspired Community Events Society. This name encapsulates our commitment to unity, inclusivity, and collaboration within the Vernon community.

Vision and Mission: A Renewed Commitment

With a new name comes a renewed sense of purpose. We crafted our vision and mission statements with careful consideration, ensuring they resonate deeply with our members and the community at large.

Vision Statement: Our vision is to foster cultural enrichment and community cohesion in Vernon, creating a vibrant landscape that celebrates diversity, creativity, and shared experiences.

Mission Statement: Vernon's vibrant cultural landscape comes alive through the dedicated efforts of our community nonprofit organisation. Our nonprofit organization plays a pivotal role in creating additional opportunities for unique events that contribute to the cultural enrichment of our community. By fostering partnerships and collaborations, we aim to expand our offerings, providing platforms for emerging talents and innovative projects that further enhance the social fabric of Vernon. Together, we strive to build a more interconnected and resilient community where everyone has the chance to participate and benefit from the diverse cultural landscape we collectively shape.

New Leadership, Endless Possibilities

The selection of our board members is integral to the success of our organization, and this year, we welcomed a dynamic team of individuals who bring a wealth of experience, passion, and fresh perspectives to the table. With diverse backgrounds and a shared commitment to serving our community, our board is poised to lead VOICE into a year of innovation and growth.

Under the capable leadership of our President, Mayla Janzen, and Vice-President, Kyra Deakin-Macey, we are confident in our ability to steer VOICE towards its full potential. Supported by dedicated individuals serving in various roles, including Secretary, and Directors-at-Large, our board embodies the spirit of servant leadership, putting the needs of our community above all else.

Looking Ahead

As we reflect on the outcomes of our AGM, we are filled with excitement for the possibilities that lie ahead. The Vernon Community Collective is more than just an organization; it is a beacon of hope, a catalyst for positive change, and a testament to the power of community spirit.

In the coming months, we will work tirelessly to bring our vision to life, organizing events, initiatives, and programs that enrich the lives of all who call Vernon home.
